Saturday, July 27th | 10am-2pm
$35 | Arts Council of Baton Rouge

Join Casey Haeg and Jon Butts of Two Friends Improv Theater for a half-day workshop concentrating on creating grounded, realistic, and well rounded relationships and characters. They will also dive into basic scene work, such as starting scenes actively, the concept of "if this is true, what else is", and edits. All levels are encouraged to participate, but it’s helpful if you have taken a Level 1 improv class.

Two Friends Improv Theater was founded by Casey Haeg and Jon Butts in 2018 and is based in New Orleans. Jon trained and performed at iO in Chicago, while Casey was trained, performed, and taught at HUGE Theater in Minneapolis. Learning the Armando with Station Theater

Saturday, August 24th | 10am-2pm
$35 | Arts Council of Baton Rouge

Join Monica Marcha and Roger Anderson as they lead us in learning ‘The Armando.' This improv format, created by Chicago Improv teacher and player Armando Diaz, starts with a storytelling-style monologue, based on an audience suggestion. After the monologue, players do scenes inspired by the monologue, and the monologue may even continue, later on in the performance.

Monica Marcha Years of being cast as “the comedic relief” in musicals and plays had not quite prepared Monica for the freedom improv offered - she was instantly hooked. Six years later, and she is still in love. Monica is currently teaching longform improv at Station Theater in Houston, TX, where she performs weekly with her troupe 2H Club. With her various troupes, Monica has been lucky enough to perform and train all over the country and on many different stages, but she is probably proudest of co-founding Station Theater’s all-female improv jam, the Ma’am Jam, which is now led by a rotation of the many all-female troupes in Houston.

Roger Anderson Roger is an improv director, performer, coach, judge and organizer in the Houston area. A director and co-owner of Houston’s Station Theater founded in 2012, Roger is a graduate of both Austin’s Fallout Theater Improv Conservatory and LA’s Upright Citizens Brigade Improv Conservatory. At Station, Roger instructs all levels from beginners to advanced study and form intensives.

The primary director of Station’s Friday Night Supernova show which welcomes hundreds of attendees every month, Roger has extensive experience curating Armando and premise-based improv shows. You can also see him perform with 2H Club, Houston’s most traveled Harold team. Roger’s teams have performed at a number of festivals including the Del Close Marathon, The Trill Comedy Festival, Philly’s Duofest. He’s performed on improv stages across the nation including Second City LA and most recently UCB Sunset in Trill Comedy Night. He’s also a regular judge of both the Regional and National College Improv Tournament Championships based in Chicago.
